John travels to Cornwall as often as he can throughout the year. Falmouth (where he stays with his wife and daughter,) feels like a second home. During the summer holidays, John can usually be found painting on Gyllyngvase Beach or at Pendennis point every morning from around 5.45am as the sun rises. If it rains John paints in the "Little Dennis Blockhouse" "I paint every morning for about 3 hours. I am very interested in the ever changing light on the water and the speed which the light and colour changes in the sky.... I work quickly to capture the atmosphere of the moment and my own reaction to what I see and feel.. I write diary entries on my work, describing what is going on around me, sounds I hear , people I meet, what they say and of course my own 'thought for the day' which usually becomes a source of amusement for my family and friends who look at my 'diaries' when I am back home...... |
